The Day's Thoughts: This is the first time I've watched Monday Night Raw the entire way through in years. It's not too much of a slight towards WWE, which has always been my favorite promotion through the good times and (many, many) bad times over my last 30+ years of watching wrestling. It's just that life is busy with two small kids and family and work responsibilities; it's not often I'm even awake at 11pm anymore. Usually, I just catch the highlights on Reddit or YouTube. If a match is really good or piques my interest, I'll check the whole thing out.
Anyway, this debut of Raw on Netflix went about as I expected. Lots (and lots) of fluff, but some solid matches. I'm hoping this was like a Wrestlemania reset of sorts, where these bouts finally end some of the feuds. Roman and The Bloodline along with Liv and Rhea need to go their separate ways. I was disappointed Jey Uso and CM Punk went over. I love the Usos as a tag team, and Jey has undeniable electricity, but his singles wrestling does nothing for me. Plus, McIntyre rules. For Punk, it took a lot for me to enjoy him again, but I do like having him around WWE. However it shouldn't be at the expense of Rollins. Guys like Rollins and McIntyre should be standing above the rest at a big show like this. Maybe HHH has something else up his sleeve.
Oh, and Hulk Hogan getting mercilessly booed warmed my cold heart. I can separate the art from the artist and watch and love old Hogan matches without a second thought. But fuck the real Hulk Hogan.
